Get ready to make some rhythmic music with this fun and engaging DIY Hand Drum craft activity. Follow the step-by-step instructions below to create your very own hand drum.
Materials needed:
Disposable paper plate
Construction paper or cardstock
Pencil or marker
Scissors
Craft glue or tape
Decorative materials (such as markers, stickers, glitter, or colored paper)
Balloon
Rubber band
Instructions:
Start by decorating your paper plate. Use markers, stickers, glitter, or colored paper to personalize your drum and make it visually appealing.
Place the decorated paper plate face down on a piece of construction paper or cardstock. Trace the outer edge of the paper plate onto the construction paper using a pencil or marker.
Cut out the circle traced on the construction paper. This will serve as the drumhead of your hand drum.
Apply craft glue or use tape to attach the construction paper circle to the backside of the paper plate, aligning the edges.
Once the drumhead is securely attached, let it dry completely before moving on to the next step.
In the center of the paper plate, make a small hole using a pencil or scissors. Be careful not to make the hole too big.
Take a deflated balloon and stretch the opening over the hole in the paper plate. Ensure that it is tightly secured.
Secure the balloon in place by wrapping a rubber band around the outer edge of the paper plate, covering the balloon's opening. Make sure the rubber band is tight enough to hold the balloon securely.
Your DIY hand drum is now complete! Test it out by tapping or drumming your fingers on the drumhead (balloon) to create rhythmic sounds.
